An Eagle Scout Candidate, Paxton Myers presented his project to the group. The project consists of purchasing or possibly constructing agility equipment for the park including weave poles, an adjustable jump stand, teeter totter and tube.  Myers estimates it will cost approximately $700 to do this and his goal is to have the equipment in place by June of 2014.

Phase I is officially complete. Our next two major projects are: gravel in the parking lot and a water fountain.

Thank you to Gillmore & Associates for surveying the land and drawing up a master layout for our park.  This park will be built in phases, as funds become available.

Our "Sit, Stay, Heal" Benches are not a typo.  The word "heal" is intended to remind users of the park that time spent in the park with their pets will heal not only their bodies with physical exercise, but their souls as well.

The benches have been installed, and fence delivered.  No Swett will be installing the fence shortly.  We will be having our grand opening Saturday, April 20, 2013.  Ribbon cutting will be at 9:30 AM.  Come enjoy the park!

As of January 6, 2013 the above photo shows the fence line has been dug and cement poured.  Also the posts for the fence have been set.  We now need approximately $2,500 to purchase and install the fence on the entire perimeter of the park.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Terry at No Swett Fencing and Arthur of Platte Valley Precast as well as Gerhold Concrete for their assistance, donations and patience in helping us get this project off the ground!  Please be sure to thank these businesses with your business!

In January of 2012 the Columbus City Council approved our request to utilize a plot of land owned by the city for a bark park. This land is located north of Wilderness Park on the monastery. It is just south of the bridge over the canal.

History:
A group of people got together a while back and said "Why doesn't Columbus have a Bark Park?" Our community needs an area where dog owners can take their pets to play freely and safely. Since then, they have mobilized, adding many other dog lovers to support this project in our community. We were fortunate that CART (Columbus Area Recreational Trails) has decided to partner with us, allowing our group to gather tax free donations under their 501c business license. Also the CART board members were able to help us with many operations such as setting up our bank account, legalities with donations, and finding contacts for help with various aspects of the project.

Cement has been installed around the perimeter of the park, and posts have been set.

Above is a photo of one of the benches Behlen Mfg. is making for our park.  A Eagle Scout project by Sam T. will be to install the benches around the park.

Phase II of the process will include adding amenities, such as park benches, picnic tables, parking lot gravel, and a drinking fountain.

Phase III will be adding some really great equipment.  This includes a memorial garden, agility training area, dog wash off area, and shade/shelter with power for having doggie birthday parties!
